Going Cajun

Last weekend when we took Cookie and Red Bull to North Georgia, I finally got to meet Theresa Taylor and her family. Theresa and I have been emailing and following each other's blogs for some time now, and it was great to get to meet her in person. You can follow Theresa's blog where you will also get updates on Cookie and Red Bull here.

Theresa, who lives in Louisiana, was very thoughtful and generous to bring us some local cuisine. Tonight we are going to dive in and have some Cajun cooking! Now, I know I can't really do it justice, since I am not Cajun, but I know we are really going to enjoy our feast.

The menue will include fresh Louisiana shrimp, Boudin and Andouille. I am going to cook some rice as a side and we will have green beans from our garden and corn bread. Mike is going to dig me up some horseradish root so that I can make a cocktail sauce. For dessert, we are going to be having peach cobbler. I am also making meat loaf because one of the young men who helped milk the cows while we were gone is going to be eating with us and I promised him some meat loaf!

Wow! Sounds so good. We are getting some harsh weather maybe even some snow. 45 MPH winds and sleet for sure. NOT to worry.....

Cookie and Cream (aka Momma Cow) have the barnyard and the barn. Red Bull, Daisy, and Buddy have the goat yard with a Lean to shed to get out of the weather. The horses have their shelter up in the front pasture. Everyone has plenty of hay. We should all be snuggly warm.

The food was delicious! The shrimp was outstanding and I particularly enjoyed the Boudin! Thank you so much!!!!
