Barn Restoration Update

We are in a cold snap now and the barn restoration project has pretty much halted until we get some warmer temperatures.  Mike may be able to do some work on the interior of the barn when it warms up a bit, but we won't be putting any stain on the barn with temperatures in the zero to 16 degree F range for a few days.  We need warmer days of at least 55-60 degrees before we can complete the staining.

Mike did get the stain finished on this part of the shed that attaches to the barn after I took this photo, but the entire back of the shed has to be stained.

After this photo was taken we worked to get some of the brush from the front, including that bush and old fence post seen in this photo.  We still have a lot of clean up to do and will be bringing the skid loader down from Staunton to facilitate things.  (The skid loader has been on loan to our nephew who has been building chicken houses.)

Same barn from the side.  I just can't get enough of it!  For a reminder, here is how it looked before we started.

And every barn needs a little adornment.  These stars are made from old barn wood and I think look pretty nice on the side of the barn.  I have a third star and someone suggested that odd numbers look better than even numbers.  What do you think?  Should we add the third star or leave it as it is?

And the barn just wouldn't be complete with a barn quilt, right?  I actually got this "friendship block" two years ago but didn't have the right place to display it until now.
