CATTLE FOR SALE/MISSION STATEMENT

Updated October 17 , 2024

T Cupp's Trailblazer (Blaze)
Bull Calf/Potential Herd Sire
Born 11/16/2023
Height at Birth 24 inches
Polled
Tested A1/A2
$1800

Dam is 41 inches with a nice udder and long, hand-milkable teats.  She produces 3-4 gallons of milk daily at peak lactation with twice-a-day milking and 1.5 - 2 gallons of milk a day with once-a-day milking.

Sire is 45 inches, quiet temperament, and is easy to handle.

While we dam raise our calves, we are actively involved with them daily.  This, in our opinion, is the best of both worlds.  Our bulls are respectful of humans but are not wild.  We do not halter or lead train but our animals are easy to manage.

We keep a closed herd and all of the animals tested from our herd have been disease-free.

Mission:

We focus on producing dairy cattle that are perfect for the homesteader.

For us, that means a healthy, contented, easy-to-handle cow that produces enough milk for a family without producing so much milk that it becomes overwhelming for the homesteader.

Over the years, we have offered both registered and unregistered stock and standard and miniature-sized cattle.  We steer most of the bull calves (using them for beef) but have kept a few for breeding that met our standards of conformation and temperament.

For over a decade, we ran a cow share program and milked cows of all sizes and backgrounds including Jersey, Dutch Belted, Holstein x Angus, Jersey x Milking Shorthorn, and Jersey x Swiss.  Many times, hybrid cattle are heartier and make a perfect family cow.  But we have always had an affinity for Jersey Cows, especially miniatures.

When we started raising miniatures almost 20 years ago, they were difficult to find, breeders few and far between, and only two registries. Now there are many more breeders of miniature cattle from which to choose and various registries that focus on different goals for the miniature breeds.  There is quite a wide range in sale prices for these miniature cattle.

We caution you to be wise in your choice of breeders, really look into their programs, and consider if a miniature is indeed the right choice for you and your farm. In other words, thoroughly do your homework before you purchase, and don't let infatuation with the Miniature Jersey breed cause you to throw caution to the wind.

We never sell bottle babies (our calves are dam-raised) and while we sell weaned bull calves, we rarely sell open heifers.  Occasionally, we will sell a bred heifer.  Mostly, we sell trained cows that have had a least one calf for us.  This assures that the cattle we sell have good temperaments, are proven breeders, and are excellent milk cows. In other words, I want to know what I am selling before I pass it on to someone else.  This has worked well for us and we have had many return clients over the years.

We live and promote the "homestead style" life raising our own food and providing our own dairy.  Our cows are proven for the lifestyle that we live.  While we do dam raise our calves, we also bring those cows in every day to our milking parlor and milk them for a full lactation period of a minimum of ten months before drying them off to give them a break before they calve again. You can be assured that the dairy cows you buy from us have not been only milked a few times and then turned out to pasture to be nurse cows.  Our cows have proven themselves to us first, and if they don't fit our standards for a homestead cow, then we will not pawn them off to the public.  For almost two decades, we have been making cheese, and butter, drinking rich, raw milk from our dairy cows, and using the excess to feed chickens and pigs.

We invite you to scroll to the end and look at photos of some of the animals we have sold over the last 20 years.

Thank you for your interest.

Terms of Sale

To hold an animal, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total purchase price shall be paid as a partial payment.  Livestock will be held only after the deposit is received.  The buyer shall pay the balance at or before the time of pick-up, in cash.

Livestock listed as “bred” will be pregnancy tested at the buyer’s request and expense.  Livestock tested and found to be bred are guaranteed bred only as of the date of the test by the veterinarian.  We assume no responsibility for the viability of the pregnancy beyond the test date.  Abortion, miscarriage, birth defects, or problems of pregnancy are the responsibility of the buyer.

Seller does not knowingly sell any sick or infirm livestock without full disclosure.  The buyer may at his/her expense have the livestock vet checked before shipment.

Due to the stress of transportation and adjustment to new living conditions, or differences in feed and water, we take no responsibility for the health of the livestock after it is loaded on the transport vehicle.

The buyer must pick up animals at the designated time unless other arrangements are made and documented in writing.  The buyer will be charged a daily boarding fee for the additional days the seller keeps the animal.  Should the buyer not pick up or make the necessary arrangements for the animal by the designated date, the animal will be considered abandoned by the buyer and will go back on the market.  All deposits will be forfeited if this occurs.

No permanent alterations such as banding or castration will be made to the animal until the full purchase price has been paid to the seller.

We do not accept the return of any livestock animals.  No exceptions.

We do not warranty animals.

The buyer is responsible for the health and safety of the livestock purchased once it leaves the farm.

I, the buyer, have read, understand, and agree to the terms of sale listed above.
