Drop Biscuits

Ingredients


2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons sugar

4 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening (I use lard or butter)

2/3 cup milk (raw milk)

1 egg (free range, of course)

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk milk and egg. Stir into crumb mixture just until moistened.

Drop by heaping spoonfuls 2 in. apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Yield: 1 dozen.

I found an easier way--melt the butter or whatever, let it cool 5 minutes, then stir it into that cold milk until it's formed clumps. Mix it into the dry mixture and voila! Easy biscuits that are every bit as good as the original method! :) Love ya Tammy! Let me know if you try it!
